What’s your drivetrain preference? If you’re not sure you’ve come to the right place, as we here at Pischke Motors of La Crosse near Onalaska, WI, are happy to keep you informed on this and many other automotive issues.

Front-Wheel Drive (FWD)
If you’ve ever been in a car and felt like the car was being pulled forward, it was probably a FWD vehicle. The engine sends power to the front wheels and it’s their motion that moves the car, as well as guides it. The weight of the engine and all the other machinery under the hood make most automobiles front-heavy which works to the benefit of FWD vehicles as it helps improve traction.¬†If you like FWD the 2017 Chrysler 200 might be right up your ally.

Rear-Wheel Drive (FWD)
Have you ever been in a car and felt like you were being launched like a rocket, in this case, you were probably in a RWD vehicle. The power from the engine is sent to the back wheels and the car is effectively pushed forward, leaving the front wheels free to maneuver.

All-Wheel Drive (FWD)
AWD is a little trickier, as any 2 of the 4 wheels can be powered at any given time, which is great for traction and stability, but can put a strain on acceleration and dampens fuel economy.

Four-Wheel Drive (4WD or 4×4)
4WD, when activated, sends power to all 4 wheels at once helping the vehicle power through most everyday situations you’d reasonably find yourself in, even if you’re an off-roading enthusiast. When all that power is not required though, 4WD vehicles can revert back to RWD. Many of our Jeep SUVs feature this drivetrain.
