Get to Know the 2018 Jeep® Cherokee

September 21, 2017

The Pischke Motors of La Crosse staff sure has been busy lately. We’ve welcomed several new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep® and RAM models to our Jeep dealership serving Winona WI, the latest of which is the 2018 Jeep Cherokee. After some major changes last year, the new model keeps a lot of the same features with just enough updates to keep things interesting.

What Stays

The powertrain and drive train options — including the engine choices and the improved nine-speed transmission — carry over from last year. So do the comfort and convenience features, though some features are now available on more trim levels than before.

What’s New

The former Jeep Cherokee Sport base trim is gone. The Jeep Cherokee Latitude trim takes over the base position, and there’s a new, slightly spiffed-up Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus trim. Some active safety features (blind-spot monitoring and rear parking sensors) trickle down to the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk® and Limited trims.

What We Miss

Some vehicles in the FCA US LLC stable have gotten the Uconnect® update that allows Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® compatibility; however, the 2018 Jeep Cherokee isn’t one of them.

What We Suggest

The base four-cylinder Tigershark® engine is competent. However, upgrading to the 3.2-liter V6 engine doesn’t just bring you a larger engine and 271 horsepower, but it’s faster — whether from a dead stop or handling a merge in moving traffic — and much more powerful, upping your towing capacity from 2,000 pounds to a surprising 4,500 pounds.

Further suggestion: if you’re planning on going off-road, opt for the Trailhawk trim with its tow hooks, skid plates, and other tweaks that make this version of the Jeep Cherokee ready to conquer nearly anything.

We also suggest you visit your Jeep dealership near Onalaska, WI for a test drive of a new Jeep SUV. Pischke Motors La Crosse is located at 434 4th St S.
